The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam holds the world’s largest collection of works by Vincent van Gogh, with more than 200 paintings, 500 drawings, and hundreds of personal letters displayed across several floors.
The museum traces Van Gogh’s life and artistic development chronologically, pairing famous paintings like Sunflowers and The Bedroom with his letters to his brother Theo, giving visitors insight into both the art and the man behind it.
Most visitors spend two to three hours taking in the permanent collection, and advance timed-entry tickets are required, especially during Amsterdam’s busy spring and summer travel seasons.
