Stanley Park is the largest urban park in Canada, occupying a peninsula just northwest of downtown Vancouver and offering a mix of old-growth forest, beaches, and waterfront trails free to enter year-round. It’s consistently ranked among the top city parks in the world.
The 28-kilometer Seawall Promenade circles the entire park and connects to the Vancouver Convention Centre and Spanish Banks, while shorter walks like the Beaver Lake Trail (a 1.5-kilometer wetland loop) and the roughly 30-minute stroll around Lost Lagoon suit visitors with less time.
Early morning brings the quietest trails, while sunset lights up the seawall and mountain views; spring cherry blossoms and fall foliage are seasonal highlights, and November through February draws far fewer crowds for a quieter, moodier walk through the forest.
