Parque Lage is a lush estate at the foot of Corcovado mountain in Rio de Janeiro, centered on a 1920s mansion built for industrialist Henrique Lage. The palace’s Moorish-influenced courtyards, a spring-fed grotto pool, and tropical gardens sit in the shadow of the Christ the Redeemer statue high above.
The grounds host the Escola de Artes Visuais (School of Visual Arts), and the park itself is a popular starting point for one of the classic hiking trails up Corcovado through the Tijuca Forest. Even without hiking, the gardens, ponds, and mansion courtyard make for an easy, scenic stroll.
As of early 2026 the palace interior is closed for renovation, so most visits are limited to the grounds and courtyard views, which remain free to enter. The park is best visited in the morning before the heat and hiking crowds build.
