Griffith Park is a sprawling urban park in Los Angeles covering more than 4,300 acres, one of the largest municipal parks in the country, and home to the Griffith Observatory, the Los Angeles Zoo, and the world-famous Hollywood Sign.
The park offers more than 50 miles of hiking trails suited to every skill level, from the popular Hollywood Sign Hike and the summit trek up Mount Hollywood for sweeping views of the LA Basin, to family-friendly loops like Ferndell. Beyond hiking, visitors can explore the Greek Theatre, three golf courses, Travel Town Museum, and a historic merry-go-round.
Because the park combines so many attractions, time spent varies widely: a quick Observatory visit and short trail can take under an hour, while a full Hollywood Sign or Mount Hollywood hike typically runs 1.5 to 2.5 hours, and combining several sights can easily fill a half day.
