Faneuil Hall Marketplace is a historic shopping and dining complex in downtown Boston centered on the 18th-century Faneuil Hall meeting house and the adjoining Quincy Market building, one of the earliest planned shopping centers in the United States when it opened in 1826. The marketplace today combines dozens of food stalls, shops, and pushcart vendors under Quincy Market’s central rotunda with street performers outside.
Marketplace shops and food stalls are generally open Monday through Saturday 10am-9pm and Sunday 11am-7pm, though many restaurants keep their own extended hours. Faneuil Hall itself, the historic meeting hall on the upper floors, keeps separate hours, typically 9am-5pm daily, with a visitor center open until 6pm and free ranger-led talks on the building’s Revolutionary War history.
The marketplace sits at the center of Boston’s Freedom Trail, making it a natural stop between the Old State House and the North End, and its central food hall is a popular lunch spot for both tourists and downtown office workers.
