Guilin

Guilin, in China’s Guangxi region, is famed for the otherworldly karst mountains and misty scenery that line the Li River. Elephant Trunk Hill, the city’s symbol, resembles a giant elephant drinking from the river.

The classic way to see the landscape is a boat cruise along the Li River, either from downtown Guilin to Yangshuo’s West Street or a shorter cruise from Xingping Ancient Town.

Spring and autumn bring the mildest, most pleasant weather for a cruise.
