Fort Worth blends its Old West stockyards heritage with a walkable downtown arts scene just west of Dallas. The Fort Worth Stockyards host the world’s only twice-daily cattle drive at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., alongside Billy Bob’s Texas, the world’s largest honky-tonk, and the shops and restaurants of Mule Alley.
Downtown’s 37-block Sundance Square anchors dining, live music, and theater, while the Cultural District holds the Kimbell Art Museum, Amon Carter Museum of American Art, and the free Fort Worth Water Gardens. The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame and the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History sit nearby, reachable via the low-cost Dash electric bus. The Fort Worth Zoo and Botanic Garden round out the city’s attractions.
March through May and September through November bring the mildest weather for exploring, while December through February offers the lowest prices.
