Burnet sits in the Texas Hill Country about 60 miles northwest of Austin, serving as a gateway to the Highland Lakes chain of Lake Buchanan, Inks Lake and Lake LBJ. Inks Lake State Park offers boating, kayaking, swimming and nine miles of hiking trails.

Longhorn Cavern State Park leads guided tours through striking underground rock formations, Spider Mountain Bike Park is the only lift-served, year-round mountain bike park in the country, and the Vanishing Texas River Cruise tours Lake Buchanan’s waterfalls.

Fort Croghan Grounds and Museum preserves mid-1800s frontier buildings and artifacts. Spring is the most popular season thanks to blooming bluebonnets and the town’s April Bluebonnet Festival.
