Gardens by the Bay is a 105-hectare urban park in Singapore’s Central Region, first announced in 2005 as part of the government’s “City in a Garden” vision and opened to the public in June 2012. The park comprises three waterfront gardens along Marina Reservoir, with Bay South Garden home to its most famous feature.
The Supertree Grove features a dozen of the park’s eighteen vertical Supertree structures, some rising 50 meters tall and planted with over 160,000 plants across more than 200 species. By day the towering structures provide shade and habitat; after dark they come alive with the free Garden Rhapsody light and sound show, held nightly.
The outdoor gardens, including Supertree Grove, are free and open from 5am to 2am, and most visitors spend three to five hours exploring the grounds and catching an evening light show; the indoor conservatories require separate paid tickets.
